Director, AI Practice & Transformation / Retail BU Lead (Lead)
**Role Summary**
Lead executive-level AI strategy and delivery for a retail client, building a scalable Retail AI practice. Drive AI, data, and engineering initiatives across multiple squads, translating business priorities into prioritized programs while maintaining governance, compliance, and ethical standards.
**Expactations**
- 12–20 years of technology, AI, data, or digital transformation experience.
- 5+ years in executive‑face strategic or consulting leadership.
- Mandatory domain expertise in brick‑and‑mortar retail, grocery, or omnichannel operations, including merchandising, supply chain, and POS ecosystems.
- Proven ability to lead cross‑disciplinary teams of 20–30+ members.
- Strong executive communication and influence skills.
- Consulting or systems integration background preferred.
**Key Responsibilities**
- Act as primary partner to client Executive Leadership Team; translate priorities into a prioritized AI/data initiative portfolio.
- Own roadmap reviews, value‑realization discussions, and ensure alignment with governance, compliance, and ethical AI frameworks.
- Direct program delivery across three workstreams: AI pilots, data foundations, and engineering modernization; coordinate 20–30 engineers, data scientists, and leads.
- Provide architectural oversight for AI/data platforms; advise on cloud, MLOps, and data engineering practices.
- Mentor squad leads, standardize methodologies, and scale delivery globally.
- Establish operating cadence (weekly syncs, bi‑weekly sprint reviews, monthly executive checkpoints); deliver dashboards quantifying ROI and operational impact.
**Required Skills**
- Executive strategic leadership with strong stakeholder engagement.
- Deep knowledge of AI/ML systems, experimentation, and success metrics.
- Expertise in data engineering, integration platforms, and analytics.
- Cloud architecture, MLOps, and modern software delivery practices.
- Retail domain experience: POS, loyalty, merchandising, supply chain, and operational decision‑making.
- Team leadership, change management, and governance implementation.
- Strong presentation, problem‑solving, and executive communication.
**Required Education & Certifications**
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Business, or related field (or equivalent experience).
- Relevant certifications (e.g., AWS/Azure Certified Solutions Architect, Certified Scrum Master, or AI/ML certifications) preferred.
