Job Description
**Job Title:** Expert Legal Counsel – Product **Role Summary:** Provide expert legal support to the global Carrier Management Team (CMT) and product organization. Advise on product development, contracts, risk mitigation, and regulatory compliance. Serve as the in‑house legal subject matter expert for Vonage products and lead negotiations with carriers, MVNOs, and suppliers. **Expectations:** - Deliver timely, accurate legal counsel throughout the product lifecycle. - Build and maintain compliant, customer‑friendly contract templates. - Partner cross‑functionally with Product, Commercial, Privacy, Regulatory, and Compliance teams. - Negotiate complex agreements with mobile operators and suppliers. - Ensure alignment with global telecom, consumer, antitrust, IP, and data privacy regulations. **Key Responsibilities:** - Provide specialist advice to developers, engineers, product managers, and marketing on product creation and implementation. - Draft and standardise contract templates and flow‑down terms for products and solutions. - Serve as the Legal Department’s product SME and collaborate with product & legal/compliance teams for end‑to‑end support. - Advise on risk mitigation for phishing, smishing, unsolicited or fraudulent traffic and related disputes. - Negotiate with MNOs, MVNOs and other suppliers; manage complex, high‑pressure transactions. - Work with carrier, sourcing, privacy, security, regulatory, and compliance teams to mitigate risks. - Enhance and standardise global contract processes and procedures for supplier, aggregator and carrier management. **Required Skills:** - Strong in‑house legal experience in fast‑paced, sales‑driven tech, telecom, SaaS or cloud communications environments. - Proven ability to advise product teams across the entire product lifecycle. - Expertise in telecom regulatory landscape, consumer regulation, antitrust, intellectual property and commercial implications. - Experience negotiating with major MNOs, MVNOs and suppliers. - Knowledge of data privacy laws (e.g., GDPR) and ability to integrate compliance into commercial work. - Excellent written and verbal communication, attention to detail, diplomacy and stakeholder management. - Self‑motivated, proactive, multitasking and project management skills. - High integrity, ethical standards, and transactional leadership. **Required Education & Certifications:** - Admitted to at least one U.S. state bar (or UK‑qualified solicitor/barrister). - Minimum 7 + years post‑bar admission/qualification experience. - Bachelor’s degree in Law (LL.B., J.D.) or equivalent.
