**Job Title**
Financial Controller
**Role Summary**
Lead the organization’s finance and accounting function, ensuring accurate financial reporting, compliance with GAAP, and effective internal controls. Manage day‑to‑day finance operations, supervise a team of five, and collaborate with senior leadership to provide strategic financial insights.
**Expectations**
- Mature professional with 3‑5 years in Controller or Assistant Controller roles.
- CPA designation mandatory; strong background in accounting and audit.
- Proven ability to manage full‑cycle accounting, budgeting, payroll, and external audits.
- Excellent communication skills for translating complex finance information to non‑financial stakeholders.
**Key Responsibilities**
1. Oversee all accounting operations: ledgers, financial reporting, cash management, AP/AR, fixed assets, payroll, and reconciliations.
2. Ensure compliance with GAAP, regulatory requirements, and internal financial policies.
3. Lead month‑end, year‑end close processes and coordinate annual audits.
4. Develop and maintain financial statements, reports, and budgeting/planning processes; analyze variances and recommend corrective actions.
5. Forecast cash flow, monitor liquidity, and manage organizational cash reserves.
6. Provide financial analysis to identify trends, risks, and opportunities.
7. Manage and mentor a finance team, clarifying roles, coaching, and conducting performance reviews.
8. Maintain CPA designation and stay current on accounting standards and professional ethics.
**Required Skills**
- Deep knowledge of GAAP, internal control frameworks, and financial reporting standards.
- Experience managing external audits, budgeting, payroll, and full‑cycle accounting.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, ERP systems (Microsoft Business Central experience an asset).
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem‑solving abilities.
- Leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills; ability to explain financial data to non‑financial audiences.
- Integrity, professionalism, and a collaborative, adaptable work style.
**Required Education & Certifications**
- Post‑secondary degree or diploma in Accounting, Commerce, or Business Administration.
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation.
