Job Description
Job Title: Payroll Specialist Role Summary Contract Payroll Specialist responsible for accurate, timely payroll processing for U.S. and Canadian employees across a global workforce. Works within a hybrid environment to manage payroll cycle, vendor relationships, tax compliance, and employee inquiries. Expectations • Contract basis, 6‑month term with potential extension • W2 employment only, not contractor (C2C) • Must hold current U.S. work authorization (both now and future) • Hybrid work model (remote and occasional on‑site as required) • Full responsibility for payroll quality, compliance, and reporting Key Responsibilities 1. Process payroll for U.S. and Canadian staff using Excel, GPS/SuccessFactors, and third‑party payroll vendors. 2. Manage employee lifecycle changes each pay period: new hires, terminations, and pay adjustments. 3. Administer special payroll activities (garnishments, loans, off‑cycle payments). 4. Ensure compliance with federal, state, and provincial tax laws; file payroll taxes accurately and on time. 5. Prepare and submit payroll tax reports and documentation; investigate and resolve accounting discrepancies. 6. Respond to employee payroll inquiries, resolving issues efficiently and professionally. 7. Generate and distribute payroll reports to Finance and stakeholders. 8. Monitor evolving tax regulations and payroll best practices; recommend process improvements. Required Skills • Minimum 2 years experience in payroll tax reporting and compliance (U.S. and Canada). • Minimum 2 years processing payroll for salaried and hourly employees in a corporate setting. • Strong knowledge of cloud‑based payroll systems and HRIS (Dayforce, Workday, SuccessFactors, TalentWorks). • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and related Office applications. • Attention to detail, discretion with confidential data, and ability to manage competing priorities in a deadline‑driven environment. • Excellent written and verbal communication, problem‑solving, and customer‑service skills. • Capability to work effectively in a hybrid, fast‑paced, global team environment. Required Education & Certifications • Bachelor’s degree in Payroll, Accounting, Human Resources, Finance, or related field (or equivalent experience). • Licensure or certification in payroll (e.g., APW, CPM) is a plus, but not mandatory.
