Job Description
**Job Title**: Director, Privacy Counsel **Role Summary**: Lead U.S. data privacy compliance strategy, advising stakeholders on legal requirements, mitigating risks, and collaborating cross-functionally to integrate privacy into business operations. **Expectations**: Strategic oversight of U.S. privacy programs, ensuring alignment with regulations like CCPA/CPRA, HIPAA, and emerging laws while balancing business objectives with risk management. **Key Responsibilities**: - Serve as U.S. privacy legal expert, providing counsel on compliance with federal/state privacy laws (CCPA/CPRA, HIPAA, TCPA, etc.). - Develop and maintain Servier’s U.S. data privacy program, including policies, notices, and consent forms. - Negotiate data privacy terms in agreements (DPAs, clinical trial agreements, vendor contracts). - Monitor regulatory changes and advise on compliance strategies. - Conduct privacy risk assessments and breach response management. - Educate business teams on privacy best practices and deliver training programs. - Collaborate with Global Privacy, Legal, R&D, and commercial teams on privacy-by-design initiatives. **Required Skills**: - JD from accredited law school and Massachusetts Bar membership or licensing eligibility. - 8+ years in privacy law, compliance, and security; life sciences industry experience preferred. - Expertise in U.S. privacy regulations; familiarity with GDPR/Canadian laws advantageous. - Strong cross-functional collaboration, risk assessment, and strategic problem-solving skills. - Proficiency in drafting legal documents and negotiating privacy-compliant agreements. **Required Education & Certifications**: - Juris Doctor (JD) degree. - Massachusetts Bar license or ability to obtain in-house counsel license. - CIPP/US certification preferred.
