Job Description
**Job title:** Cyber Security Engineer **Role Summary:** Lead and enhance the operational security posture of a national charity by managing day‑to‑day security operations, overseeing a 24/7 outsourced SOC, and implementing robust security controls across cloud and on‑premises environments. **Expectations:** - Deliver continuous, proactive security monitoring and incident response. - Strengthen security frameworks and reduce vulnerability exposure. - Produce clear technical documentation and support knowledge transfer to junior staff. **Key Responsibilities:** - Manage and monitor the outsourced SOC, ensuring timely detection and escalation of security events. - Lead incident handling from identification to recovery, coordinating with IT and business units. - Configure, tune, and maintain SIEM (Microsoft Sentinel preferred) and other threat‑detection tools. - Conduct vulnerability scans, prioritize findings, and coordinate remediation activities. - Secure Azure, Microsoft 365, and related cloud/network infrastructure. - Deploy and refine security controls, policies, and procedures. - Document security processes, create runbooks, and update incident playbooks. - Mentor and coach junior security engineers, fostering skill development. **Required Skills:** - Hands‑on experience in cyber and operational security roles. - Proficiency with SIEM platforms, incident response, vulnerability management, and threat hunting. - In‑depth knowledge of Microsoft 365 security features. - Familiarity with Azure and/or AWS security architecture. - Strong analytical, problem‑solving, and communication skills. - Ability to work under pressure and collaborate across multidisciplinary IT teams. **Required Education & Certifications:** - Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Security, or related field (preferred). - Relevant certifications (e.g., CISSP, CISM, CEH, SSCP, GIAC, CREST) strongly preferred.
