**Job title**
Senior Solutions Architect
**Role Summary**
Lead end‑to‑end architecture of large‑scale, distributed payment and platform systems. Translate business strategy into resilient, secure, and high‑performance technology solutions while driving technical standards, governance, and continuous improvement across engineering, product, and security teams.
**Expectations**
- Deliver measurable improvements in latency, throughput, resiliency, and security for cross‑regional, high‑volume payment platforms.
- Influence executive-level decisions and shape the organization’s architectural direction.
- Mentor teams and promote a culture of best practices and innovation.
**Key Responsibilities**
- Design and document reference architectures for on‑prem, hybrid, and cloud‑native payment platforms using C4, UML, and other modeling techniques.
- Define and advocate architecture principles, patterns (microservices, event sourcing, CQRS, domain‑driven design), and standards.
- Evaluate trade‑offs across latency, throughput, cost, consistency, availability, complexity, and security; present transparent recommendations.
- Provide hands‑on technical leadership in Java/Spring Boot, event‑driven designs, observability, and failure‑recovery strategies.
- Translate product roadmap items (tokenization, passkeys, BNPL) into architectural solutions with clear implications.
- Lead architecture governance, risk assessments, and design reviews; manage a Center of Excellence.
- Partner with cloud, infrastructure, security, DevOps, and data teams to ensure cross‑functional non‑functional requirements are met.
- Drive innovation by evaluating emerging open‑source tools, event frameworks, AI/ML, and real‑time analytics for future platform enhancements.
**Required Skills**
- 15+ years in software engineering/architecture; strong coding and systems‑design background.
- Deep expertise in Java/Spring Boot microservices, event‑driven systems (Kafka, Axon, etc.), and domain‑driven design.
- Proven knowledge of distributed system design (high throughput, low latency, fault isolation, graceful degradation).
- Experience with AWS, GCP, Azure, hybrid‑cloud, and on‑prem integrations.
- Proficiency in architecture modeling (C4, UML) and documentation.
- Strong grasp of integration patterns, messaging, service orchestration, observability, caching, SQL/NoSQL databases.
- Excellent communication: simplify complex concepts for non‑technical stakeholders; persuade senior leaders.
- Prior work in payments, fintech, or similarly regulated, high‑scale platforms is highly desirable.
- Track record in setting standards, leading architecture practice, mentoring, and driving architectural maturity.
**Required Education & Certifications**
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent professional experience.
- Certifications such as AWS Certified Solutions Architect, Certified Kubernetes Administrator, or equivalent are advantageous.
