Job Description
**Job Title** Database Administrator, Enterprise Technology (12‑month contract) **Role Summary** Administer and maintain SQL Server and Azure SQL databases across development, UAT, and production environments. Ensure high availability, data integrity, performance, security, and compliance while supporting application development and data migration initiatives. **Expectations** - 12‑month fixed‑term contract reporting to Manager, IT Cloud Services. - Deliver 24/7 operational support, including backups, restores, and disaster recovery testing. - Proactively monitor performance and capacity and implement tuning measures. - Automate routine tasks and standardize operations through documentation and runbooks. **Key Responsibilities** - Configure and manage HA/DR solutions (AlwaysOn, Restore Points). - Plan, perform, and test backup/restore operations; maintain backup archives. - Tune query performance: index design, statistics management, query plan analysis. - Implement security hardening: least‑privilege access, auditing, vulnerability scans. - Support schema changes, DDL/DML releases, and data migrations with development teams. - Automate maintenance, patching, and refresh scripts using PowerShell, T‑SQL, KQL. - Create and maintain documentation, standards, and operational runbooks. **Required Skills** - 4+ years DBA experience with SQL Server and Azure SQL Database. - Proven HA/DR, backup/recovery, and performance tuning expertise. - Strong T‑SQL skills; PowerShell automation preferred. - Experience with SSIS/SSRS, Microsoft Fabric, Power BI, and auditing in regulated environments is a plus. - Familiarity with change‑management processes and release management. **Required Education & Certifications** - Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field (or equivalent experience). - Professional certifications (e.g., Microsoft SQL Database Administrator, Azure Data Engineer, or similar) are advantageous.
