**Job title:**
Research Engineer in Biology (F/M)
**Role Summary:**
Conduct experimental molecular biology work in a genetics and developmental biology research unit, focusing on DNA construct design, protein interaction assays, Drosophila genetics, and microscopy-based subcellular localization studies.
**Expectations:**
Min. 2–3 years of hands‑on molecular biology experience. Proficient in cloning, PCR, sequencing, and immunoprecipitation. Strong analytical mindset, organized, and capable of independent work while collaborating in a multidisciplinary team.
**Key Responsibilities:**
- Design, construct, and validate plasmids encoding fluorescently tagged proteins.
- Perform immunoprecipitation, Western blotting, and other protein interaction assays.
- Generate and genotype Drosophila strains, manage genetic crosses, and maintain stock records.
- Conduct live‑cell and fixed‑cell imaging to assess protein distribution in wild‑type and mutant backgrounds.
- Order reagents, maintain inventories, and manage supplies for team operations.
- Keep detailed, reproducible records and reports for internal and external stakeholders.
**Required Skills:**
- Advanced PCR, restriction enzyme cloning, Gibson/NEBuilder assembly, and sequencing analysis.
- Western blotting, Co‑IP, and basic protein purification techniques.
- Drosophila genetics: housing, back‑crossing, balancer handling, and genotyping.
- Fluorescence microscopy (confocal or wide‑field), image acquisition, and quantitative analysis.
- Bioinformatics for sequence analysis (BLAST, ORF finder, primer design tools).
- Fluent written and spoken English; strong scientific communication.
- Methodical project management, time‑management, and teamwork.
