Job Description: Job Title: Senior Software Engineer, Portal Role Summary: Senior Software Engineer responsible for designing, building and maintaining end‑to‑end features within a full‑stack web platform that supports transit agency operations. Owns high‑impact backend services and polished, data‑rich frontend components while mentoring engineers and influencing architectural decisions across the stack. Expectations: Deliver scalable, performant, and reliable features that meet stakeholder needs; ensure code quality through rigorous testing, documentation, and review; foster production stability; actively contribute to CI/CD, observability, and automation; mentor junior engineers; advocate for best practices. Key Responsibilities: • Design, implement, and maintain backend APIs and core business logic. • Build and iterate on modern React/TypeScript frontend components. • Develop and deploy scalable services on AWS with CI/CD pipelines. • Mentor mid‑level and junior engineers on coding standards and design. • Review and approve code changes; conduct design discussions. • Troubleshoot production incidents, optimize performance, and ensure reliability. • Collaborate with product, design, and operations to define feature requirements. • Contribute to system architecture, observability, and automated testing. Required Skills: • Bachelor’s degree in CS, Engineering, or equivalent. • 5+ years building modern web applications. • Strong backend development in Python or Golang. • Proficient with React (or similar) and TypeScript. • Experience with PostgreSQL or MySQL. • Familiar with event‑driven and RESTful API design. • Comfortable with AWS services (EC2, S3, RDS, Cognito). • Solid CI/CD pipeline experience (GitHub Actions, CircleCI, etc.). • Mentoring and code‑review skills. • Excellent communication and cross‑functional collaboration. Required Education & Certifications: • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
