**Job Title** Marketing Strategist (Hybrid) **Role Summary** Lead writer and content strategist for the Statler College of Engineering and Mineral Resources. Develops and executes integrated marketing communications to promote academic programs, research, and community engagement, supporting student recruitment, retention, and brand reputation across internal and external audiences. **Expectations** - Produce high‑quality, deadline‑driven written and multimedia content. - Align marketing tactics with college and university strategic goals. - Demonstrate data‑driven decision making through analytics and reporting. - Maintain consistent brand voice across all channels. - Collaborate effectively with cross‑functional teams and external partners. **Key Responsibilities** - Write and edit press releases, feature articles, recruitment materials, social media posts, e‑newsletters, and advertising copy. - Conduct research, interviews, and fact‑checking to generate newsworthy stories. - Manage and grow social‑media presence; develop editorial calendars and data‑focused campaigns. - Coordinate website content updates and ensure timely removal of obsolete information. - Track and report on marketing metrics to evaluate campaign effectiveness. - Partner with Director of Marketing, Enrollment Management, designers, and graduate assistants to create cohesive marketing plans. - Support WVU Strategic Communications in placement of college releases and media advisories. - Assist with special projects, multimedia production (video, photography), and event promotion. **Required Skills** - Exceptional writing, editing, and storytelling abilities. - Strong research and interview techniques. - Proficiency in social‑media management, analytics tools, and content management systems. - Basic multimedia production (video, photography) knowledge. - Ability to work independently and in collaborative, deadline‑driven environments. - Excellent interpersonal skills for stakeholder engagement. - Familiarity with higher‑education marketing and recruitment strategies. **Required Education & Certifications** - Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, Journalism, English, or a related field (Master’s preferred). - Demonstrated professional experience in marketing communications, preferably in higher education or a comparable sector. - Relevant certifications (e.g., Google Analytics, HubSpot Content Marketing) are a plus.
