**Job Title:** Education Assistant 2
**Role Summary:**
Supports teachers by assisting small groups or individual students with academic, behavioral, and life‑skill activities per individualized education plans. Provides supervision during unstructured times, monitors student well‑being, and contributes to a safe, inclusive school environment.
**Expectations:**
- Follow direction from teachers and specialized staff.
- Maintain confidentiality and adhere to safety and medication protocols.
- Communicate effectively with students, staff, parents, and external agencies.
- Perform duties reliably across classroom, playground, and community settings, including inclement weather.
**Key Responsibilities:**
- Deliver drill‑and‑practice and note‑taking (scribing) support.
- Perform health‑related procedures (hygiene, toileting, feeding, positioning, transfers).
- Assist with communication, motor training, adaptive technology, and life‑skill independence.
- Supervise students during recess, lunch, before/after school, and transit to/from buses.
- Observe, record, and report student behavior, safety concerns, and minor injuries.
- Prepare instructional materials and manage activity equipment.
- Score tests, maintain records, and administer prescribed medication.
- Participate in parent conferences, field trips, and special events as needed.
**Required Skills:**
- Knowledge of child behavior management and exceptionalities.
- Ability to operate or learn school‑based assistive equipment (e.g., computers, communication boards).
- Strong verbal and written communication in the language of instruction.
- Team collaboration within multidisciplinary settings.
- Physical capability to lift, transfer, and assist students; sufficient vision and hearing.
- Confidentiality and adherence to individualized education plans and medication protocols.
**Required Education & Certifications:**
- Minimum: Grade 12 education.
- Completion of at least six post‑secondary courses related to learning/behavioral issues (e.g., Education Assistance, Behavior Management, Exceptionalities, Development, Interpersonal Communication).
- Minimum 1 year experience supporting children/youth with exceptional needs in a school, hospital, or community agency.
- May require a valid British Columbia driver’s license.
- No specific licensure required beyond the above education and experience.
