Job Title: Senior Software Engineer, API (FHIR/HL7)
Role Summary: Design, develop, and operate highly available, secure APIs for an AI‑driven healthcare platform. Responsibilities include building scalable FastAPI services on cloud, managing high‑volume data pipelines, ensuring HIPAA compliance, and collaborating on next‑generation AI features.
Expectations: Own end‑to‑end API stack from design to production, deliver robust performance at millions of daily requests, enforce strict data security, and directly influence platform direction and compliance automation.
Key Responsibilities:
- Architect and implement high‑throughput FastAPI/Flask services in AWS/other cloud.
- Design RESTful APIs for AI healthcare tools and internal coordination.
- Build secure data pipelines for real‑time PHI processing (HIPAA‑compliant).
- Shape database schemas, optimize queries in PostgreSQL/MySQL, and manage caching with Redis.
- Ensure reliability: failover, disaster recovery, disaster testing.
- Develop observability stack (metrics, tracing, alerts) and automate deployments via CI/CD.
- Integrate third‑party APIs, webhooks, and microservices.
- Write secure API code, enforce authentication/authorization, and implement rate‑limiting.
- Contribute to compliance automation, multi‑region deployments, and AI feature back‑end.
Required Skills:
- 5+ years backend engineering, Python, FastAPI/Flask.
- Cloud platform (AWS, GCP, Azure) and microservices experience.
- RESTful API design, scaling, versioning, documentation.
- Relational DBs (PostgreSQL/MySQL), query optimization, ACID compliance.
- Caching strategies with Redis, distributed system patterns.
- Containerization (Docker), CI/CD pipelines, automated deployments.
- Observability: logging, metrics, distributed tracing, alerting.
- Security practices for PHI: encryption, IAM, audit logging.
- HL7/FHIR knowledge and understanding of HIPAA regulatory requirements.
- Familiarity with AI/ML model serving, event‑driven/async architectures.
Required Education & Certifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent experience.
- Minimum 5 years professional backend experience.
- Advanced degree or certifications in CS/Engineering preferred but not mandatory.
