Job title: Automation Engineer (Maintenance) – CDI
Role Summary:
Responsible for ensuring reliability and continuous improvement of industrial automation systems. Develop, modify, and optimize PLC programs (TIA Portal / Step 7), configure operator interfaces and SCADA systems, integrate drives, networks, and instrumentation, and support field operations including FAT/SAT, safety testing, and process tuning. Engage in Industry 4.0 initiatives, data acquisition, API development, and robotic system optimization (Fanuc, Kuka, ABB). Collaborate with production, maintenance, IT/OT, and electrical teams and manage work requests via Azure DevOps.
Expectations:
Proactive technical problem‑solving, rapid fault diagnosis, and effective communication with cross‑functional teams. Deliver high‑quality documentation, participate in on‑call coverage and occasional travel. Contribute to digital transformation projects and strengthen on‑site robotics expertise.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design, develop, and optimize PLC logic (TIA Portal / Step 7) for industrial processes.
- Program operator interfaces and SCADA systems; integrate drives, industrial networks, and instrumentation.
- Prepare and execute FAT/SAT, conduct field commissioning, safety testing, and process calibration.
- Diagnose failures in PLCs, networks, or sensors and provide corrective actions.
- Support and enhance existing robotic cell operations (Fanuc, Kuka, ABB).
- Participate in Industry 4.0 projects: OT/MES integration, data collection, APIs, scripts, and SQL.
- Maintain technical documentation, reports, and updates; manage tickets in Azure DevOps.
- Collaborate with process, maintenance, IT/OT, and electrical staff; attend on‑call shifts and occasional site visits.
Required Skills:
- Mastery of TIA Portal and Step 7 PLC programming.
- Proficiency with industrial networks: Profinet, Profibus, Modbus TCP/IP.
- Experience with SCADA/OPC and operator interface design.
- Knowledge of safety instrumentation, ATEX/IEC 61511 (desired).
- Familiarity with robotics platforms (Fanuc, Kuka, ABB) and motion control.
- Ability to develop data acquisition scripts, APIs, and SQL queries.
- Strong diagnostic capabilities and analytical problem‑solving.
- Effective written and verbal communication; team collaboration.
- Proactive learning attitude toward emerging automation and digitalization technologies.
Required Education & Certifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Automation, Robotics, Electrical Engineering, or related field.
- Certifications or proven proficiency in TIA Portal and Step 7 PLC programming (e.g., Siemens PLC certification).
- Additional certifications in robotics, safety systems, or data analytics preferred but not mandatory.
