Job Description
**Job title**: Actuarial Analyst – Valuation **Role Summary** Support the valuation team in reserve valuation, financial projections, P&L reporting, and ad‑hoc analysis. Maintain and enhance actuarial databases, produce management reports, assist in claim liability valuations, and generate presentations for stakeholders. **Expectations** ‑ Deliver timely, high‑quality analyses and documentation in a fast‑paced environment. ‑ Work independently while collaborating with claims, underwriting, finance, and member companies. ‑ Demonstrate strong analytical, problem‑solving, and communication skills. **Key Responsibilities** 1. Perform reserve valuation, financial forecasting, and financial reporting analyses, documenting assumptions and conclusions. 2. Maintain and improve actuarial databases and queries; reconcile data and recommend resolution actions. 3. Build and update reports and exhibits on key business metrics for management and external stakeholders. 4. Conduct claim liability valuations and help select IBNR provisions, payment patterns, and loss ratio projections. 5. Apply critical thinking to process improvement and translate real‑world issues into numerical models. 6. Maintain documentation and risk controls throughout actuarial processes. 7. Develop presentation and communication materials for committees, rating agencies, regulators, and industry events. **Required Skills** - Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Access, Word, PowerPoint). - Knowledge of at least one programming language (SQL, SAS, VBA, Python, or R). - Strong analytical, problem‑solving, and verbal/written communication abilities. - Capability to manage multiple deliverables, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines. - Experience with database management, valuation software, and business intelligence tools is advantageous. **Required Education & Certifications** - University or college degree in actuarial science, mathematics, finance, computer science, or a related field. - Minimum of 2 CAS exams completed or CIA credential. - 2+ years of relevant P&C insurance experience (preferably Canadian), focusing on reserving, valuation, pricing, or capital modeling. ---
