**Job Title:** Security Alarm Engineer
**Role Summary:**
The Security Alarm Engineer installs, commissions, troubleshoots, and maintains access control, CCTV, and intruder alarm systems for public and private sectors, ensuring compliance with UK/EU standards and NSI codes. The role includes proactive maintenance, reactive fault resolution, documentation, and 24‑hour call‑out coverage on a rota basis.
**Expectations:**
- Deliver high‑quality installation and commissioning of security systems in accordance with current regulations.
- Resolve faults efficiently, minimizing unplanned call‑outs.
- Maintain accurate electronic records of work performed, materials used, and follow‑up actions.
- Provide on‑call support as required and collaborate effectively with colleagues, customers, and external parties.
**Key Responsibilities:**
1. Install, program, and commission security systems (access control, CCTV, intruder alarms).
2. Respond to reactive fault calls, diagnose issues logically, and repair systems to achieve full compliance.
3. Perform planned maintenance visits, assess system fitness, and anticipate corrective actions.
4. Complete electronic paperwork, service reports, and any additional documentation.
5. Cover 24‑hour call‑out rotation and assist with job‑specific duties as needed.
**Required Skills:**
- Practical experience in installation, commissioning, servicing, and maintenance of access control, CCTV, and intruder alarm systems.
- In‑depth knowledge of UK/EU standards, NSI codes of practice, and product limitations.
- Proficiency in PC‑based configuration and maintenance software.
- Strong diagnostic and fault‑finding capabilities.
- Excellent verbal and written communication, including preparing reports and service documentation.
- Ability to interpret specifications and technical drawings.
- Creative problem‑solving, initiative, and attention to detail.
- Collaboration and interpersonal skills with clients and colleagues.
- Organizational and time‑management abilities.
- General computer literacy.
**Required Education & Certifications:**
- Relevant technical qualification (e.g., NVQ Level 3/4 in Security Engineering or equivalent).
- Any manufacturer or professional certifications related to access control, CCTV, or intruder alarm systems (e.g., CertE or similar) are advantageous.
- Valid driving licence.
