**Job Title**
Fire & Security Engineer
**Role Summary**
Perform installation, commissioning, maintenance, and fault‑finding for fire detection, access control, CCTV, and intruder alarm systems across diverse public and private sector sites. Respond to reactive faults, conduct planned maintenance, and document all work to maintain compliance with BS 5839:2017, PD 6662:2017, BS 8243:2010+A1:2014, and relevant BAFE/NSI codes. Provide 24‑hour on‑call coverage and support project delivery on a mobile basis.
**Expectations**
- Deliver projects to schedule while meeting all statutory and client specifications.
- Achieve high service quality and minimal unplanned fault calls.
- Work independently and in collaboration with colleagues, clients, and third‑party contractors.
- Maintain accurate, electronic service records and prepare clear technical reports.
**Key Responsibilities**
- Install, program, commission, and test fire and security systems on customer sites.
- Troubleshoot & repair faults, diagnosing issues logically and efficiently.
- Perform scheduled inspections, verify system fitness for purpose, and anticipate future maintenance needs.
- Complete electronic documentation of all work, parts used, and required actions.
- Provide 24‑hour on‑call support on rota.
- Stay current with product updates, regulatory changes, and industry best practices.
**Required Skills**
- Proficient installation, commissioning, and servicing of fire detection, access control, CCTV, and intruder alarm systems.
- Knowledge of BS 5839:2017, PD 6662:2017, BS 8243:2010+A1:2014, BAFE, and NSI standards.
- Strong diagnostic, fault‑finding, and problem‑solving abilities.
- Competence in PC software for configuration and maintenance.
- Excellent verbal and written communication; ability to produce technical reports and documentation.
- Good organisational, time‑management, and attention‑to‑detail skills.
- Ability to build relationships with clients, teammates, and external stakeholders.
**Required Education & Certifications**
- Minimum of a Level 3 qualification (e.g., NVQ, BTEC, or equivalent) in fire protection, security systems, or electronic engineering.
- Current professional registration or certification in fire protection or security (e.g., COFC, IS) preferred.
- Valid UK driver’s licence and willingness to travel on a mobile basis.
