Technical Director – ARB Architect (Nuclear Sector)
**Role Summary:**
Senior leader responsible for directing the Nuclear Architecture division of a multidisciplinary consultancy. Oversees the delivery of large‑scale, complex defence and nuclear projects, ensuring architectural excellence, regulatory compliance, and strategic growth.
**Expactations:**
- Provide visionary leadership and set technical direction for nuclear architecture initiatives.
- Achieve project milestones on time, within budget, and to required safety and quality standards.
- Drive business development and maintain senior client relationships in the defence sector.
- Foster a high‑performance team culture, mentoring architects and engineers.
- Ensure full compliance with ARB regulations, nuclear licensing requirements, and industry best practices.
**Key Responsibilities:**
- Lead architectural design, planning, and execution for nuclear facilities and related infrastructure.
- Develop and enforce technical standards, BIM protocols, and quality assurance processes.
- Manage multi‑disciplinary project teams, coordinating with engineers, safety specialists, and contractors.
- Prepare and present technical reports, design reviews, and regulatory submissions.
- Oversee risk management, health & safety, and environmental compliance for all projects.
- Contribute to strategic planning, resource allocation, and financial forecasting for the division.
- Represent the firm at industry forums, conferences, and client briefings.
**Required Skills:**
- Proven senior leadership in architecture, preferably within nuclear or defence environments.
- Full ARB registration (Architect) and deep understanding of UK/International building codes.
- Strong knowledge of nuclear safety standards, licensing processes, and security requirements.
- Expertise in BIM (Revit, Navisworks) and advanced architectural software.
- Excellent project management abilities; familiarity with PRINCE2, PMP or equivalent.
- Outstanding communication, negotiation, and stakeholder‑engagement skills.
- Ability to lead, mentor, and develop multidisciplinary teams.
**Required Education & Certifications:**
- Accredited Bachelor’s degree in Architecture (minimum); Master’s degree preferred (e.g., Nuclear Engineering, Sustainable Design).
- Valid ARB registration as an Architect.
- Relevant certifications such as PMP, PRINCE2, or NEA nuclear safety qualifications are advantageous.
- Continuous professional development in nuclear sector standards and regulations.
