Job Description
Job Title: Night Custodian Role Summary: Maintain cleanliness, hygiene, and safety of the resort during night‑time hours. Perform independent cleaning of public areas, guest accommodations, and restrooms; manage supplies; respond to emergencies and uphold security protocols. Expectations: - Work independently on a night‑shift schedule, including evenings and weekends. - Maintain a quiet, low‑light working environment while ensuring thorough cleaning. - Follow safety and security procedures and handle unexpected situations promptly. - Perform physical tasks such as lifting up to 50 lbs, climbing stairs/ramps, and repetitive bending or crawling. Key Responsibilities: - Vacuum, mop, sweep, and disinfect all public and guest areas. - Empty trash, restore supplies, and replace linens as needed. - Clean restrooms, sanitize high‑touch surfaces, and ensure proper sanitation of guest rooms. - Inspect premises for cleanliness and maintenance issues; report findings. - Respond to guest or staff reports of incidents and take immediate corrective action. - Follow chemical handling protocols and register product usage. - Keep accurate logs of cleaning activities and supplies used. Required Skills: - Attention to detail and strong organizational skills. - Ability to work independently with minimal supervision. - Basic problem‑solving and decision‑making capability. - Familiarity with cleaning chemicals and safety data sheets. - Physical stamina for prolonged standing, walking, and lifting. - Effective communication with management and staff. Required Education & Certifications: - High school diploma or equivalent. - Valid Class 5 Nova Scotia Driver’s License. - Hotel or custodial experience preferred. - Clearance of a criminal background check (initial and every two years).
