Job Description
**Job Title:** Senior Geophysicist **Role Summary:** Lead and manage high‑complexity, near‑surface geophysical projects from conception to delivery. Provide technical direction on survey design, field operations, data processing, and interpretation. Mentor junior staff, drive innovation, and communicate results to diverse stakeholders. **Expectations:** - Minimum 7 years of hands‑on experience in high‑resolution geophysics. - Proven track record of leading teams and managing large‑scale projects. - Postgraduate qualification in geophysics or related field. - Current right to work in the UK; manual driving licence required. **Key Responsibilities:** - Design and plan geophysical surveys, selecting appropriate techniques. - Oversee field teams, ensuring data quality and technical integrity. - Lead advanced data processing, interpretation, and reporting. - Maintain quality assurance, delivering projects on time and within budget. - Apply expertise across transport, engineering, geological, environmental, and utility sectors. - Mentor junior colleagues and provide technical guidance. - Conduct occasional fieldwork as required (domestic and limited international travel). **Required Skills:** - Mastery of GPR, EM, magnetometry, microgravity, electrical methods (resistivity, IP), seismic refraction/velocity, surface wave analysis. - Proficient in geophysical processing and interpretation software (Oasis Montaj, GeoGiga, SurfSeis, Res2Dinv, Zonde, Aarhus Workbench). - Coding in Python for data processing and automation. - GIS and mapping proficiency (AutoCAD, Microstation, ArcGIS, QGIS). - Strong leadership, written and verbal communication. - Strategic thinking and ability to drive R&D initiatives. **Required Education & Certifications:** - Postgraduate degree (Masters or Ph.D.) in Geophysics or related discipline. - Bachelor's degree (minimum) in Geophysics, Geology, Engineering, or Sciences. - Full clean manual driving licence (UK). - Right to work in the United Kingdom.
