Job Description
Job Title: B.Next Investment Summer Associate Role Summary: Supports In‑Q‑Tel’s investment team in early‑stage biotechnology and engineering biology ventures. Performs deal sourcing, due diligence, market research, and contributes to investment thesis development. Expectations: • Work full‑time during summer 2026. • Demonstrate strong analytical and research capabilities. • Communicate effectively with entrepreneurs, investors, academics, and government stakeholders. • Deliver high‑quality written assessments and presentations within tight deadlines. Key Responsibilities: - Identify and evaluate prospective startup investment opportunities in biotech, life sciences, medtech, and engineering biology. - Draft written assessments and investment memos. - Support transaction due diligence, deal execution, and preparation of investment documentation. - Coordinate with legal, finance, and technology teams to facilitate deal processes. - Conduct quantitative and qualitative market research on targeted tech sectors. - Produce investment theses, presentations, and reports for internal and external audiences. - Promote the organization’s brand within the venture ecosystem through outreach to founders, investors, academics, and government contacts. Required Skills: - Strong analytical, critical‑thinking, and research skills. - Excellent written and verbal communication. - Ability to quickly learn and synthesize emerging technology trends. - Interpersonal skills to collaborate with diverse stakeholders. - Proficiency in Microsoft Office, data analysis, and presentation tools. Required Education & Certifications: - U.S. citizenship. - Enrollment in or completion of an MBA, Master’s, or PhD program (preferred in biology, biochemistry, chemistry, biotechnology, medicine, or life sciences). - Availability for full‑time summer engagement.
