Job Description
**Job title:** Data Architect – VP Data **Role Summary:** Lead the design, governance, and industrialization of the organization’s next‑generation data platform centered on Snowflake. Manage a small team of Data Engineers, collaborate with cross‑functional stakeholders, and ensure the architecture meets performance, scalability, and security requirements. **Expectations:** - Architect and evolve a robust, scalable data ecosystem. - Implement best practices in versioning, CI/CD, and DataOps. - Deliver high‑quality, maintainable pipelines and documentation. - Lead, mentor, and grow a technical team of Data Engineers. - Collaborate closely with Data, BI, DevOps, and business units to align data strategy with corporate needs. **Key Responsibilities:** 1. **Architecture & Governance** – Design the group data architecture, define data models (Kimball, Data Vault, Snowflake Schema), and establish data quality & reliability standards (tests, validations, monitoring). 2. **Documentation** – Create and maintain technical and functional documentation: metadata, lineage, naming conventions, cataloging. 3. **DataOps & CI/CD** – Deploy Liquibase and dbt for version control and automatic deployment; define CI/CD pipelines (GitHub, Cloud). 4. **Team Management** – Lead a team of 2 Data Engineers: prioritize work, track progress, coach skill development, and promote best practices. 5. **Orchestration & Automation** – Configure and maintain Apache Airflow as the central workflow orchestrator for ETL/ELT jobs; manage job scheduling, failure recovery, and monitoring. 6. **Collaboration** – Work with Head of Data & AI, DevOps, BI, and business stakeholders to translate requirements into engineering solutions and communicate data insights. 7. **Maturity & Process Improvement** – Contribute to the evolution of data processes and methods, supporting the broader Data department’s growth. **Required Skills:** - Minimum 5 years in data architecture, data engineering, or DataOps. - Strong expertise in Snowflake, dbt, Apache Airflow, and versioning tools (Liquibase or equivalents such as Dagster, Fivetran, Prefect). - Proficient in Python and SQL; experience in cloud data environments (Azure or AWS). - Advanced data modeling (Kimball, Data Vault, Snowflake Schema). - Technical leadership and effective team management. - Excellent documentation, communication, and collaboration abilities. **Required Education & Certifications:** - Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field. - Relevant certifications in Snowflake, Data Platforms, or Cloud (e.g., Snowflake Certified Data Engineer, AWS/Azure Data Analytics).
