Job Description
Job Title: Director of Transit Security & Passenger Safety Role Summary: Oversees security operations, code compliance, and passenger safety across transit systems, ensuring adherence to policies and legal standards. Expectations: Develop and implement security policies, coordinate interagency efforts, and maintain compliance with regulations while ensuring staff and public safety. Key Responsibilities: - Develop and manage deployment plans for security personnel and code compliance - Oversee third-party security contracts and collaborate with law enforcement agencies - Design training programs aligning with legal standards and progressive enforcement tactics - Coordinate with CFO and COOs for revenue collection and transit security operations - Establish procedures compliant with federal, state, and local laws - Facilitate interdepartmental collaboration for event planning and crowd control - Serve as liaison with community groups for route planning and service development - Prepare reports for executive management and public forums - Evaluate personnel performance and ensure policy compliance - Maintain incident statistics and operational data Required Skills: - Proficiency in policy interpretation and procedural development - Strong communication and diplomatic engagement skills - Expertise in conflict de-escalation and training program design - Coordination of interagency collaboration and stakeholder management - Advanced Microsoft Office proficiency and data analysis capabilities Required Education & Certifications: - Bachelor’s degree in criminal justice, public administration, or related field - Minimum 10 years in transportation agency or law enforcement leadership - TSA Secret Clearance eligibility - Valid California driver’s license
