Job Description

**Job Title:** Java Developer **Role Summary:** Develop and maintain mission‑critical Java applications that support the reliability of an electric grid. Translate business requirements into scalable, high‑performance solutions, participate in full‑cycle development, and provide production support in a high‑pressure environment. **Expectations:** - Deliver clean, maintainable code that meets reliability standards for a regulated utility sector. - Own code from design through deployment, including on‑call support. - Mentor junior developers and uphold code‑quality standards. - Communicate complex technical concepts to non‑technical stakeholders clearly and professionally. **Key Responsibilities:** - Gather and document business requirements in partnership with stakeholders. - Design, code, test, and deploy enterprise Java applications using Spring Boot, Java 17+, and modern development practices. - Write SQL queries, stored procedures, and tune performance on Oracle or PostgreSQL databases. - Participate in an on‑call rotation to provide production support and resolve outages. - Conduct code reviews, enforce coding standards, and mentor junior team members. - Collaborate with system operators, analysts, and infrastructure teams to deliver reliable solutions. - Continuously assess and improve system performance, reliability, and user experience. **Required Skills:** - 5+ years of professional Java development experience (Java 17+). - Deep knowledge of Spring Framework and core Java best practices (IoC, locality of behavior). - Proficient with SQL and database performance tuning (Oracle or PostgreSQL). - Experience with modern development practices (code versioning, CI/CD, unit testing). - Excellent analytical ability to translate complex business needs into technical solutions. - Strong written and verbal communication skills, capable of explaining technical topics to non‑technical audiences. - Ability to remain calm and focused during high‑pressure events and critical deadlines. **Bonus (Nice to Have):** - Cloud platform experience (AWS preferred). - Containerization (Docker, Kubernetes). - Message queues (Kafka, JMS) and event‑driven architecture. - DevOps practices (CI/CD, IaC). - Energy or utility industry exposure. **Required Education & Certifications:** - Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field. ---
