Job Description

Job Title: Senior Backend Software Engineer Role Summary: Lead the design, development, deployment, and support of medium to large backend services within a SaaS healthcare platform. Drive architectural excellence, observability, performance, and testing best practices while collaborating with product, design, and infrastructure teams. Mentor junior developers, review code, and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives. Expectations: • 6+ years of backend software development experience, preferably with Python. • Proven ability to own end‑to‑end features and lead on‑call support. • Comfortable traveling up to 4 weeks per year for company events. • U.S. work authorization (no visa sponsorship required). Key Responsibilities: - Own design, implementation, and evolution of medium‑to‑large backend services. - Define and enforce backend development practices, patterns, and processes. - Mentor and conduct code reviews for junior team members across API, job processing, and support services. - Drive improvements in system design, observability, testing, performance, and production support. - Participate in on‑call rotation, monitoring, and incident response for owned services. - Collaborate with product, design, frontend, infrastructure, and AWS teams to unblock feature delivery. - Identify and propose projects to enhance overall backend codebase quality and tooling. Required Skills: - Proficient in Python and one or more backend programming languages. - Strong architectural design, API development, and testing expertise. - Experience with Kubernetes, AWS services (including serverless), and cloud‑native observability tools. - Familiarity with OpenAI services and enterprise SaaS products is desirable. - Ability to work in fast‑moving, startup‑style environments; experience in health technology is a plus. - Excellent written and verbal communication; ability to explain technical concepts to non‑technical stakeholders. Required Education & Certifications: - Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent professional experience.
