Job Description
**Job Title** System Administrator **Role Summary** Lead the migration and modernization of end‑of‑life (EOL) systems from legacy Windows and Red Hat Enterprise Linux platforms to current supported OS versions (Windows Server 2016/19/22, RHEL 5/6/7/8/9). Ensure secure, high‑performance operation through proactive maintenance, troubleshooting, and user support. **Expectations** - Execute systematic upgrades of server and workstation hardware and software. - Maintain rigorous documentation and security controls. - Provide effective training and support to end‑users and teams. - Collaborate on procurement and inventory decisions for IT assets. - Deliver post‑migration reports and recommendations for continuous improvement. **Key Responsibilities** 1. Upgrade and modernize legacy Windows Server and RHEL systems to supported releases. 2. Troubleshoot and repair computer hardware, peripherals, and network equipment. 3. Manage user accounts, security permissions, and group policies. 4. Monitor system performance, detect issues, and implement corrective actions. 5. Retrieve, transfer, and secure data from local, state, or federal databases. 6. Review and recommend IT hardware/software procurement and inventory levels. 7. Develop and maintain procedure manuals, training materials, and system briefs. 8. Provide technical assistance for applications and perform system diagnostics. 9. Conduct on‑site testing, installation, and upgrade of new hardware/software. 10. Ensure compliance with security policies and industry standards. **Required Skills** - Proficient in Windows Server (2016/19/22) and RHEL (5‑9) administration. - Strong troubleshooting of operating systems, hardware, and basic networking. - Experience with automated data processing and database interactions. - Ability to document procedures, maintain logs, and generate reports. - Effective communication for user training and cross‑functional coordination. - Knowledge of information security best practices and compliance requirements. **Required Education & Certifications** - Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field **or** equivalent hands‑on experience. - Minimum 3 years of server administration experience. - Professional certifications preferred: CompTIA A+/Network+, Microsoft Certified: Azure/Windows Server, Red Hat Certified System Administrator (RHCSA), or equivalent.
