Job Description
Job title: Intermediate Accountant Role Summary: Temporary contract accountant covering maternity leave within a financial services firm. The role safeguards financial integrity, manages the full accounts payable cycle, reconciliations, and supports month‑end close and reporting. Expectations: Deliver accurate and timely financial processes, maintain data integrity in QuickBooks and Salesforce, comply with policy and regulatory requirements, and contribute to continuous improvement of accounting systems. Key Responsibilities: - Execute full‑cycle accounts payable: invoice entry, approval, and payment runs in QuickBooks. - Process client repayments (EFT/cheque), allocate funds in Salesforce, and resolve unidentified payments. - Upload daily funding and PAD repayment data to banking portal; run monthly garnishment for delinquent loans. - Reimburse employee expenses, ensuring policy compliance. - Monitor and respond to AP & AR Outlook inboxes. - Perform monthly reconciliations: bank accounts, corporate credit cards, intercompany accounts. - Maintain and reconcile balance sheet schedules (Accrued Liabilities, Prepaids, Amortisation, Deferred Revenue). - Manage monthly interest servicing: prepare journal entries and bank transfers. - Reconcile Daily Journal Upload File and load to QuickBooks. - Assist in monthly/quarterly management financial statements, supporting reconciliations and variance analysis. - Prepare departmental reporting for financial performance insights. - Serve as primary contact for audit requests, preparing schedules and documentation. - Facilitate timely HST return filing and payment remittance. - Archive monthly bank statements and financial reports digitally. - Identify and implement process improvements in QuickBooks and Salesforce. Required Skills: - Proficient in QuickBooks Online or equivalent cloud accounting software. - Experienced with Salesforce or similar CRM. - Advanced Excel expertise (pivot tables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, SUMIFS, data manipulation). - Excellent attention to detail, accuracy, and analytical problem‑solving. - Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast‑paced environment with minimal supervision. - Strong communication and interpersonal skills at all organizational levels. - Self‑starter with continuous improvement mindset. Required Education & Certifications: - Diploma or degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field. - Accounting designation or actively pursuing one (e.g., CPA, CA, ACPA) is an asset. - 3–5 years progressive accounting experience, including month‑end close and financial reporting.
