Job Description
Job title: Cyber Security Analyst Role Summary: Provide technical cyber security consulting, assess and mitigate risks, enhance data protection, conduct incident response and forensic investigations, and deliver security awareness training within an intermediate‑level capacity. Expectations: - Execute risk assessments, health checks, and vulnerability scans on enterprise systems. - Monitor data security posture, analyze access patterns, identify exposure, and recommend remediation. - Maintain and update firewall, VPN, intrusion prevention, and antivirus configurations. - Triage Advanced Threat Detection alerts and perform mitigation. - Respond to incidents, perform forensic analysis, and maintain the cyber risk register. - Guide junior staff and educate organization employees on security practices. Key Responsibilities: - Conduct regular cyber security risk assessments and health checks. - Monitor and improve the organization's data security posture through access pattern analysis and remediation recommendations. - Develop and deliver security awareness campaigns, training materials, and presentations. - Maintain the enterprise cyber risk register and create mitigation plans. - Update firewall rules, VPN tunnels, and intrusion prevention systems. - Configure antivirus policies and manage malware registration. - Triage and tune Advanced Threat Detection (ATD) alerts. - Perform vulnerability scans and penetration testing for PCI and internet‑facing systems. - Investigate and respond to real or suspected cyber security incidents. - Provide guidance to junior staff and train City employees on cyber security best practices. Required Skills: - Proficient with antivirus, IPS, firewalls, and cloud/email/web security solutions. - Knowledge of identity and access management, encryption, tokenization, and PCI compliance. - Experience in threat modeling, incident management, and mobile/industrial controls security. - Strong analytical, proactive problem‑solving, and communication skills. - Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment. Required Education & Certifications: - Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related IT field with 3 years of cyber security experience, OR diploma in the same fields with 6 years of experience (equivalent combinations considered). - Valid CISSP, GIAC, or equivalent security certification required.
