Job Description
**Job Title:** Principal Quality Engineer **Role Summary:** Lead and mentor cross‑functional teams in supplier quality assurance for complex, high‑risk procurements. Develop and execute surveillance, verification, and certification plans to ensure externally sourced products meet stringent technical, regulatory, and customer requirements. Serve as the primary interface for supplier quality issues, driving corrective actions and continuous improvement across the global supply base. **Expectations:** - Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior quality personnel. - Manage multi‑disciplinary teams to achieve quality goals within schedule and budget. - Ensure compliance with nuclear and non‑nuclear regulatory standards and internal QA policies. - Drive supplier performance improvement through data‑driven analysis and corrective‑action oversight. **Key Responsibilities:** - Design and implement supplier oversight and surveillance plans for first‑of‑a‑kind procurements. - Lead verification and acceptance activities against purchase order specifications. - Create and maintain certification documentation linking procured items to applicable codes, standards, and customer requirements. - Conduct global supplier assessments to verify regulatory, code, and standard compliance. - Review procurement documents to confirm accurate translation of design and contract requirements. - Track, evaluate, and close supplier corrective actions with objective evidence. - Apply advanced statistical methods to identify failure causes, trends, and effectiveness of QA programs. - Collaborate with business development, supply chain, and engineering on supplier qualification and development. - Draft QA plans/programs aligned with NRC, Westinghouse, and customer standards for nuclear and non‑nuclear facilities. - Review bid specifications, licensing write‑ups, proposals, and supplier submittals for technical QA compliance. - Perform precision measurements, physical/electrical testing, and review inspection/NDT procedures for complex components. **Required Skills:** - Supplier Quality Management and Auditing (ISO 9001, AS9100, NRC standards) - Development of QA plans, surveillance strategies, and certification documents - Advanced statistical analysis, SPC, root‑cause analysis, and failure‑mode investigation - Strong project management and team leadership capabilities - Excellent written and verbal communication for cross‑functional collaboration - Proficiency with quality tools (FMEA, CAPA, PPAP, MSA) and data‑analysis software - Knowledge of nuclear regulatory requirements and non‑nuclear industry standards - Ability to interpret technical drawings, specifications, and contracts **Required Education & Certifications:** - Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Quality Assurance, Manufacturing, or a related technical field (Master’s preferred) - Relevant certifications such as ASQ Certified Quality Engineer (CQE), Certified Six Sigma Black Belt, or equivalent - Experience with NRC or other nuclear regulatory compliance is highly desirable.
