Job Description
**Job Title**: LICENSED PRACTICAL NURSE (LPN), INTERNAL MEDICAL UNIT **Role Summary**: Deliver patient-centered care under Northern Health protocols, collaborating with interdisciplinary teams to meet physical, social, spiritual, and psychological needs. Function independently while seeking RN/RPN support for complex cases. **Expectations**: - Provide nursing care per established policies and BCCN standards. - Advocate for patients/residents and participate in care planning, assessments, and interventions. - Document care, report incidents, and assist with staff/student orientation. **Key Responsibilities**: - Conduct patient assessments, implement care plans, and evaluate interventions. - Monitor patient conditions, administer treatments, and manage basic clinical tasks. - Collaborate with RNs/RPNs on escalated care and document medical/psychosocial progress. - Contribute to care conferences and maintain accurate medical records. **Required Skills**: - Patient assessment and treatment planning. - Communication and teamwork with healthcare professionals. - Proficiency in clinical documentation and incident reporting. - Cultural competency and advocacy for patient needs. - Time management in rotating day/night shifts. **Required Education & Certifications**: - Current LPN license in British Columbia. - Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS). - Valid CPR for healthcare providers.
