**Job Title** Glass Technologist **Role Summary** Utilise expertise in glass science and manufacturing to enhance product quality, optimise production processes, and drive sustainable innovations within a global glass production environment. **Expectations** - Deliver measurable improvements to glass manufacturing efficiency and environmental performance. - Lead technical projects that support decarbonisation targets and operational excellence. - Collaborate cross‑functionally with engineering, quality, and sustainability teams to implement process upgrades. **Key Responsibilities** - Analyse glass composition, thermal behaviour, and process data to identify opportunities for process optimisation. - Design and validate new glass compositions or production techniques that reduce energy use and material waste. - Conduct failure mode analysis, root cause investigation, and corrective action design for glass defects. - Develop and maintain technical documentation, including Standard Operating Procedures, Process Specifications, and Change Control records. - Manage laboratory testing, pilot production runs, and scale‑up activities for new glass products. - Liaise with production crews to troubleshoot issues, train operators, and ensure compliance with safety and quality standards. - Monitor key performance indicators (e.g., energy consumption, yield, defect rates) and report trend analyses to management. - Participate in continuous improvement initiatives (Lean, Six Sigma) and sustainability projects. - Stay abreast of industry developments, emerging technologies, and regulatory changes related to glass manufacturing. **Required Skills** - Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills with a quantitative approach to process optimisation. - Proficiency in glass chemistry, thermodynamics, and engineering principles. - Experience with laboratory equipment, melt furnaces, and quality testing instruments. - Knowledge of process controls, automation, and data acquisition systems in glass production. - Familiarity with sustainability metrics, carbon footprint analysis, and decarbonisation strategies. - Effective communication and documentation skills for cross‑functional collaboration. - Project management ability, including planning, execution, and risk mitigation. **Required Education & Certifications** - B.Sc.
