Job Title: Founding Backend Engineer
Role Summary: Design, implement, and scale the core backend services that power an AI‑driven financial intelligence platform, ensuring high performance, reliability, and multi‑tenant security across ERP integrations and data ingestion pipelines.
Expectations: Build from 0→1, lead architectural decisions, set engineering standards, collaborate directly with founders, deliver production‑grade code fast, and foster a culture of ownership and excellence.
Key Responsibilities:
- Architect and build fault‑tolerant, high‑throughput data ingestion pipelines that sync with complex ERP systems.
- Design secure, scalable multi‑tenant APIs and data models to serve enterprise workloads.
- Develop and maintain high‑performance backend services in Node.js/TypeScript, using AWS, SQL databases, and CI/CD pipelines.
- Integrate AI/ML workflows (e.g., Temporal, LangChain) to transform raw financial data into actionable insights.
- Define and enforce coding standards, monitoring, logging, performance tuning, and deployment best practices.
- Shape technical direction, mentor junior engineers, and influence product strategy with data‑driven decisions.
- Collaborate across product, AI, and design teams to ship features that enhance transparency, explainability, and usability of financial data.
Required Skills:
- 4+ years of backend development in Node.js, TypeScript, or comparable languages.
- Deep expertise in distributed systems, API design, and relational data modeling.
- Proficiency with AWS services, SQL databases, and modern CI/CD workflows.
- Experience building multi‑tenant systems and ensuring security, reliability, and maintainability at scale.
- Knowledge of Temporal, LangChain, and ERP/financial data integrations is a plus.
- Strong problem‑solving mindset, high ownership, and ability to thrive in fast‑paced environments.
- Passion for the intersection of AI, finance, and infrastructure.
Required Education & Certifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field preferred; equivalent professional experience also acceptable.
- Certifications (e.g., AWS Certified Developer, SaaS Engineer Cert.) are a bonus but not mandatory.
