Job Description
Job Title: Payroll Clerk Role Summary: Process biweekly/monthly payroll for all employees, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with federal, state, and local regulations. Maintain payroll records, support tax filings, and provide support to HR and finance functions while safeguarding confidentiality. Expectations: - Accurate and timely payroll processing for all employees. - Up‑to‑date payroll and employee data management. - Compliance with all applicable payroll laws and regulations. - High level of confidentiality and professionalism. - Collaboration with HR and finance teams on payroll matters. Key Responsibilities: - Prepare and process payroll on a biweekly/monthly cycle. - Verify timekeeping, attendance, and related data. - Calculate wages, bonuses, deductions, garnishments, and benefits contributions. - Issue payments via direct deposit or checks. - Update payroll and employee information in the HR/payroll system. - Ensure compliance with wage and hour laws. - Assist in preparing and submitting payroll‑related tax filings (W‑2s, 941s, unemployment reports). - Respond to employee inquiries regarding pay, deductions, and leave balances. - Coordinate with HR on new hires, terminations, and rate changes. - Reconcile payroll accounts and support audits and year‑end close. - Maintain strict confidentiality of payroll data. Required Skills: - Attention to detail and strong analytical skills. - Proficiency with payroll software and MS Office (Excel, Word). - Knowledge of payroll regulations and tax filing requirements. - Excellent organizational and time‑management abilities. - Strong communication and customer‑service skills. - Ability to handle confidential information with discretion. Required Education & Certifications: - High school diploma or equivalent; associate’s degree in accounting, finance, or related field preferred. - Payroll processing certification (e.g., PWC, AEP) is an asset.
