Job Description
**Job Title** Diesel Truck Technician – Assistant/Apprentice **Role Summary** Entry‑level diesel truck technician assisting with the removal, repair, and replacement of major and minor vehicle components under supervision. Gaining hands‑on experience with brake systems, electrical, cab accessories, and routine maintenance. Focus on learning through mentorship and structured training. **Expectations** - Complete all assigned tasks safely and within specified time frames. - Attend scheduled work shifts (4 days × 10 hours). - Maintain a clean, organized workspace. - Demonstrate willingness to learn, follow safety procedures, and uphold high service standards. - Fulfill training requirements and progress toward certification. **Key Responsibilities** - Remove, replace, or adjust brakes (air & hydraulic), fifth wheels, cab components, and trailer accessories with supervision. - Perform preventive maintenance (oil changes, battery checks, lubrication). - Assist lead technicians with major repairs and component replacements. - Conduct minor electrical repairs and adjust brake systems. - Use hand and power tools (safety gear required). - Raise vehicles and parts using hydraulic jacks and hoists. - Pick up and deliver vehicles to customer sites or service locations. - Provide basic customer service as requested. - Maintain accurate data entry into maintenance systems. - Uphold safety and cleanliness of the work area. **Required Skills** - Proficiency with hand tools (screwdrivers, wrenches, pliers) and pneumatic tools. - Basic mechanical aptitude and mechanical repair knowledge. - Ability to follow instructions, work within a team and under supervision. - Basic data entry and computer skills. - Strong work ethic, punctuality, and adherence to safety protocols. - Willingness to lift up to 45 kg, stand, walk, and work in non‑climate‑controlled environments. **Required Education & Certifications** - High school diploma or equivalent. - Vocational/technical training in automotive or diesel technology preferred. - Enrollment in an approved apprentice program. - Licences: Current driver’s licence (Class G/5); Ability to obtain Class DZ within 6 months. - Membership/registration with relevant government agencies required.
