**Job title** Legal & Compliance Officer **Role Summary** Provide first‑line legal support and manage data protection compliance, ensuring adherence to UK law and company policies. Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to draft and review contracts, advise on regulatory matters, and maintain accurate records. **Expectations** - Early‑career professional (≤2 years experience) seeking growth in legal and data protection. - Strong willingness to learn, collaborate, and deliver under tight deadlines. **Key Responsibilities** *Legal Support* - Advise staff on legal questions, contract terms, and regulatory implications. - Draft initial contracts and conduct legal research. - Organise and update contract data in electronic systems. - Analyse legal data, maintain databases, and produce clear written summaries. - Assist with court filings and legal complaints. - Support internal legal training and administrative tasks. *Compliance & Data Protection* - Monitor and respond to the data protection inbox, including Data Subject Access Requests (DSARs). - Log and manage data protection incidents, near‑misses, and complaints. - Maintain the data protection incident register and statistics. - Contribute to annual Information Asset and Data Mapping exercises. - Prepare documentation for quarterly Data Governance Office Committee meetings. - Provide general administrative support to the data protection team. **Required Skills** - Up to 2 years experience in solicitor, CILEX, or equivalent, with regulatory exposure. - Knowledge of the Data Protection Act 2018 and UK GDPR. - Strong organisational and project‑management abilities. - Excellent written and verbal communication in English; high attention to detail. - Ability to handle confidential information with discretion. - Proficiency in Microsoft Office and digital data‑management systems. **Required Education & Certifications** - Legal background (law degree or equivalent). - BCS Practitioner Certificate in Data Protection (or equivalent).
