Job Description
Job title Junior Design & Development Engineer Role Summary Early‑career engineer responsible for translating concepts into manufacturable, high‑performance components for solid‑state heat pumps. Works hands‑on with CAD, prototyping, and testing to create robust, cost‑effective solutions that meet safety, reliability, and performance targets. Expectations - Deliver complete product designs and assemblies on schedule and within budget. - Operate in a fast‑paced startup environment, collaborating cross‑functionally with thermal, structural, and acoustic teams. - Continuously improve products through iterative prototyping, testing, and failure analysis. Key Responsibilities 1. Design and develop components and subsystems, ensuring seamless integration into overall product architecture. 2. Create CAD models (3D & 2D), applying Design for Manufacturing (DFM) and Design for Assembly (DFA) principles. 3. Define test criteria that replicate real‑world usage; develop and execute test plans. 4. Build and iterate functional prototypes for performance validation. 5. Analyse test data, investigate failures, and propose reliability and performance improvements. 6. Prepare final product design deliverables for manufacturing, meeting all functional, safety, reliability, and performance specifications. 7. Collaborate with colleagues in thermal, structural, acoustics, and electronics domains to meet shared objectives. Required Skills - Proficient in 3D CAD (SolidWorks, CATIA, etc.) and 2D drafting with GD&T. - Strong understanding of DFM and DFA, and familiarity with plastics and sheet‑metal manufacturing. - Experience in prototyping, test‑plan creation, and laboratory testing. - Knowledge of various manufacturing processes and industrial measurement methods. - Structured problem‑solving mindset; creative thinker. - Bonus: familiarity with fluid flow, thermal analysis, acoustics, or electronics.
