Job Description
Job title: After‑School Teacher Role Summary: Deliver 6 hours of after‑school support (4 teaching hours, 2 preparation) for children up to age 8 from the Traveller community, focusing on reading, writing, and spelling across EYFS, KS1 and KS2. Facilitate high‑quality lessons, use ICT, and collaborate with mentor levels to improve attainment and foster family engagement. Expactations: - Hold Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent. - Plan and deliver curriculum‑aligned lessons for early years and primary stages. - Assess individual learning needs and produce evidence‑based feedback. - Maintain accurate attendance, progress and activity records. - Adhere to safeguarding, equality, and inclusion policies. Key Responsibilities: - Teach mini‐club sessions to children up to 8 years, integrating ICT support. - Collaborate with the Traveller Teacher/mentor to share attainment data and planning. - Provide objective, detailed reports on children’s progress. - Record each teaching session for monitoring and evaluation. - Engage Traveller families in supporting their children’s learning. - Ensure classroom set‑up and cleaning post‑sessions. - Follow all Westway Trust safeguarding and child protection procedures. Required Skills: - Strong safeguarding knowledge and practice. - Effective use of ICT to enhance learning. - Ability to assess pupils’ learning needs and design targeted interventions. - Excellent written and verbal communication. - Accurate record‑keeping and data analysis. - Commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusion. Required Education & Certifications: - Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent. - Experience teaching in EYFS, KS1 or KS2 preferred. - Experience working with Traveller communities or pupils with additional needs desirable.
