Job Description

**Job Title:** Software Engineer API/Backend **Role Summary:** Design, develop, and maintain microservices and RESTful APIs within a distributed computing environment. Focus on robust, scalable solutions, automated testing, and integration with messaging queues and data processing pipelines. **Expactations:** - Deliver high‑quality Java code adhering to industry best practices. - Participate actively in Agile sprints, code reviews, and design discussions. - Maintain clear, comprehensive documentation for all software artifacts. - Ensure eligibility for US DoD Security Clearance to support government contracts. **Key Responsibilities:** - Build middle‑tier Web RESTful APIs and microservices using Java. - Integrate RabbitMQ (or equivalent) with Protocol Buffers or JSON for message handling. - Develop data‑processing tools and virtualized simulation environments, testing with JUnit and JMeter. - Prepare WAR/JAR packages for Tomcat deployment and optimize Java JRE garbage collection. - Create and maintain design documentation; participate in design reviews. - Collaborate closely with cross‑functional product teams and external stakeholders. **Required Skills:** - Java programming (core, concurrency, GC tuning) - Design Patterns & SOLID principles - Experience with MongoDB, RabbitMQ/ActiveMQ, and Protocol Buffers - Web middleware (Tomcat, JRE) and deployment (WAR/JAR) - Python for data analysis tooling - Version control (Git, GitFlow) - Agile development practices - Strong written and verbal communication; presentation capabilities - Optional: GUI design experience **Required Education & Certifications:** - Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field (MS preferred). - Must be eligible to obtain a US DoD Security Clearance.
