**Job Title**: Information Security Analyst Intern
**Role Summary**:
Assist the information security team in identifying, reporting, and mitigating security threats. Conduct security infrastructure support, forensic analysis, vulnerability assessments, and penetration testing. Educate developers on best security practices and help with code reviews.
**Expectations**:
- On‑site presence required; flexible hours to accommodate academic schedule (4–8 hours/day).
- Ability to work during after‑hours if required by threat criticality.
- Physical capability to sit for long periods and lift up to 50 lb.
**Key Responsibilities**:
1. Deploy, maintain, and monitor security infrastructure (SIEM, IPS, NetFlow, email gateway, DLP).
2. Perform forensic data collection and analysis.
3. Conduct vulnerability assessments and penetration tests on applications, services, networks, and servers.
4. Respond to security findings, initiate remediation actions, and verify mitigation.
5. Review application code for security weaknesses and train developers on secure coding practices.
6. Develop and maintain standard operating procedures (SOPs).
7. Assist in monitoring security tools and documenting incidents.
8. Perform miscellaneous tasks as directed.
**Required Skills**:
- Hands‑on experience or coursework in vulnerability assessment and penetration testing.
- Familiarity with security tools (SIEM, IPS, NetFlow, DLP).
- Knowledge of database platforms (MS SQL Server, Oracle, Sybase, DB2, MySQL).
- Understanding of ISO 27001/17799, NIST, FISMA/FedRAMP or equivalent standards.
- Basic digital forensics methodology and incident response techniques.
- Networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, DNS, HTTP, SMTP) and operating‑system knowledge (Linux/Unix, Windows).
- Strong written and verbal communication.
- Excellent organization, time management, and attention to detail.
- Proactive problem‑solving attitude.
**Required Education & Certifications**:
- Current enrollment in an A.S., B.S., or M.S. program in cybersecurity, computer science, information systems, or a related field.
- Demonstrated understanding of computer intrusion, incident response, and security architecture.
- (Optional) Certifications such as CompTIA Security+, CEH, or NIST 800‑53 familiarization are advantageous.
