Job Description
Job title: Information Technology Business Analyst Role Summary: Act as the technical bridge between business stakeholders and mainframe development teams to translate functional requirements into COBOL solutions, maintain and enhance existing mainframe applications, and support production operations. Expectations: - Minimum 5 years experience in mainframe COBOL development, JCL scripting, and DB2 database management. - Proven track record of delivering customized mainframe applications and transitioning legacy systems to modern platforms. - Strong analytical ability to troubleshoot, debug, and optimize code. - Excellent written and verbal communication for user sign‑off and documentation. Key Responsibilities: 1. Convert business and design specifications into well‑structured COBOL programs. 2. Perform detailed code reviews, data validation, and implementation of corrections. 3. Develop and modify batch jobs, reports, menus, and data entry screens. 4. Conduct unit, integration, and regression testing of program changes. 5. Produce program‑level and user‑level documentation supporting the SDLC. 6. Collaborate on migrating COBOL applications to web‑based environments. 7. Enhance application performance to reduce runtime and improve efficiency. 8. Follow source‑code control, change‑management, and deployment procedures. Required Skills: - COBOL programming with mainframe JCL and DB2. - Control‑M job scheduling. - Java programming (basic proficiency). - AWS infrastructure and services (hands‑on). - PostgreSQL database experience. - Kofax document‑processing tools. - Strong analytical, problem‑solving, and debugging skills. - Ability to prepare comprehensive technical and user documentation. Required Education & Certifications: - Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field. - Relevant certifications (e.g., IBM Mainframe, COBOL, AWS Certified Developer, or equivalent) are preferred.
