Job Description
Job Title: Ground Engineering Internship – Summer 2026 Role Summary Assist geotechnical team with field investigations and technical documentation on diverse civil projects. Gain hands‑on experience in data collection, analysis, and report preparation while supporting project design and construction monitoring. Expectations • Collaborate with senior engineers to deliver accurate field data and analytical results. • Develop proficiency in geotechnical software, AutoCAD drafting, and professional documentation. • Demonstrate strong analytical judgment, attention to detail, and effective communication in both written and verbal formats. Key Responsibilities - Plan and execute soil and rock investigations: log borings and pits, collect samples, conduct field tests, and record data. - Observe and document foundation or earthwork construction activities; verify compliance with plans and specs. - Identify field/lab problems and recommend practical solutions. - Prepare standardized logs, daily field reports, and chain‑of‑custody records. - Perform site reconnaissance, file reviews, and document searches. - Execute engineering calculations and perform initial analyses using geotechnical software. - Draft report exhibits, figures, and design plans in AutoCAD; compile comprehensive investigation reports. - Assist in additional project tasks as assigned. Required Skills - Solid knowledge of AutoCAD and Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint). - Strong written and verbal communication ability with attention to detail. - Analytical mindset, multitasking capability, and sound judgment. - Ability to work independently and within a team setting. Required Education & Certifications - Currently enrolled in a 4‑year Bachelor’s program in Civil Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, or Engineering Geology. - No prior professional licenses required.
