Job Description
Job Title: IT Helpdesk Intern Role Summary: Provide first‑level technical support for hardware, software, and network issues for a manufacturing facility. Perform workstation setup, OS and application installation, basic networking troubleshooting, and maintain ticketing and documentation. Work part‑time (4‑8 hours per week) onsite under experienced IT staff to acquire practical IT skills and contribute to small IT projects. Expectations: • Part‑time onsite internship, 4‑8 hrs weekly, ideally two days. • Work independently and collaboratively, communicate professionally with end users. • Follow IT processes, update ticketing system, document procedures, and adhere to company safety (lifting 30‑50 lbs). Key Responsibilities: 1. Deliver initial technical support for hardware, software, and network problems. 2. Assist in workstation setup, deployment of IT equipment, and inventory tracking. 3. Install and configure Windows and macOS, applications, peripherals, and perform system updates/patches. 4. Log, track, and resolve support requests in the ticketing system. 5. Document troubleshooting steps and contribute to knowledge‑base articles. 6. Support basic networking tasks such as connectivity checks and IP configuration. 7. Escalate complex issues to senior IT staff. 8. Participate in small IT projects (e.g., system upgrades, infrastructure improvements). Required Skills: - Basic knowledge of computer systems, networks, and common applications. - Familiarity with Windows and macOS operating systems and general troubleshooting. - Understanding of networking fundamentals (local network, IP configuration). - Problem‑solving and analytical thinking. - Clear, professional communication and customer‑service orientation. - Ability to work independently and as part of a team. - Physical ability to lift 30‑50 lbs. - Preferred: familiarity with Google Workspace (Gmail, Chat, Drive). Required Education & Certifications: - Currently enrolled in or recently graduated from a degree or certification program in IT, Computer Science, or a related technical field. - No specific professional certifications required.
