Job Description
Job Title: Hospital Manager Role Summary: Manage the daily operations of a veterinary animal hospital. Oversee support staff, budgets, schedules, and compliance to deliver efficient, profitable service and high‑quality patient care. Act as liaison between veterinary staff, pet owners, and corporate leadership. Expectations: - Meet revenue, labor, and profit goals set by corporate leadership. - Maintain labor targets, budget accuracy, and compliance with licensing and safety regulations. - Foster a culture of trust, teamwork, and accountability among all support staff. - Provide timely, professional customer service and resolve client concerns when appropriate. Key Responsibilities: - Supervise all hospital support departments, achieving labor goals. - Hire, onboard, train, and evaluate new office and technical clinic staff. - Conduct performance appraisals and deliver constructive feedback. - Write, update, and approve hospital policies and procedures. - Manage staff schedules, coordinate with the veterinarian, and monitor workforce attendance. - Administer daily hospital operations, ensuring administrative compliance. - Oversee budgeting, procurement of equipment/supplies, and facility maintenance. - Process contract veterinarian invoices, local vendor invoices, and maintain accurate financial records. - Resolve owner issues as needed and report financial/revenue metrics to leadership weekly. - Maintain veterinary licensure displays and coordinate license renewals. - Manage inventory and ensure proper documentation. - May develop and supervise billing practices, charge capture, and insurance contract negotiations. - Perform other duties as directed by corporate management. Required Skills: - Proven supervisory experience (minimum 2 years) in an office or clinical setting. - Strong customer‑service orientation with excellent verbal and written communication. - Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and clinic‑specific software. - Ability to manage schedules, budgets, payroll, and inventory. - Knowledge of compliance with veterinary licensing and safety regulations. - Effective time‑management, organizational, and problem‑solving skills. - Flexibility to work weekends and holidays; ability to work in environments with animals and medical chemicals. Required Education & Certifications: - Minimum of 2 years direct office management experience with supervisory responsibility. - Bachelor’s degree in business administration, veterinary technology, or related field preferred. - Equivalent combination of education, certification, and experience may be considered. ---
