Job Title: Tech Lead – Backend & Infrastructure
Role Summary:
Lead design, development, and operation of backend services and infrastructure supporting Gelt applications, consumer APIs, and diagnostics systems. Build and mentor a high‑performing DevOps‑focused team, ensuring secure, scalable, and compliant solutions for a growing user base.
Expectations:
- 7+ years of technical leadership in backend and infrastructure roles, preferably in fintech, tax, or payment systems.
- Proven experience building and scaling cloud‑native services with strong DevOps culture.
- Deep knowledge of security standards and compliance relevant to the industry.
- Strong communication skills with ability to liaise across product, security, and R&D teams.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Architect and implement robust, fault‑tolerant backend services and supporting infrastructure.
2. Lead and coach a consumer‑API team, setting technical direction and coding standards.
3. Champion DevOps practices—continuous integration, delivery, and automated monitoring.
4. Design scalable, cost‑effective cloud solutions for rapidly expanding workloads.
5. Ensure all systems meet security, compliance, and performance requirements.
6. Simplify system design for maintainability and ease of troubleshooting.
7. Collaborate with product, security, and R&D stakeholders to align technology strategy with business goals.
8. Identify and remove technical debt, driving continuous improvement initiatives.
9. Facilitate knowledge transfer and upskilling within the R&D team on cloud and DevOps technologies.
10. Lead incident response and post‑mortem processes to enhance reliability.
Required Skills:
- Advanced backend development (Go, Java, Node.js, Python, or similar).
- Expert cloud platform skills (AWS, Azure, or GCP) with IaC (Terraform, CloudFormation).
- Strong DevOps toolchain experience (Git, CI/CD pipelines, container orchestration, monitoring).
- Architecture of distributed systems, microservices, and API design.
- Knowledge of security frameworks (ISO 27001, SOC 2, PCI DSS) and compliance frameworks.
- Excellent problem‑solving, analytical, and decision‑making capabilities.
- Leadership, mentoring, and stakeholder management proficiency.
Required Education & Certifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field (or equivalent professional experience).
- Professional certifications preferred: AWS Certified Solutions Architect, Azure Solutions Architect, Google Cloud Professional Architect, or equivalent DevOps/Cloud certifications.
