Job Description
Job Title: 2nd Engineer – MPSV Role Summary: Assist the Chief Engineer with all engineering operations on a Marine Product Support Vessel, ensuring safe, efficient, and compliant machinery and systems performance in offshore environments. Expectations: - Perform engineering duties across shipboard machinery, electrical, and HVAC systems. - Maintain compliance with UK regulations, MLC 2006 standards, and company operating procedures. - Operate within a 2‑week rotation schedule, stationed in UK waters. Key Responsibilities: - Conduct routine and preventive maintenance on propulsion, auxiliary machinery, and onboard electrical systems. - Monitor engine performance, record operating data, and report deviations. - Manage consumables, inventory, and procurement for engineering supplies. - Assist in oil and fuel handling, fire and safety inspections, and emergency drills. - Support health, safety, and environmental compliance, including waste handling and reporting. - Maintain accurate engineering logs, incident reports, and maintenance schedules. - Liaise with the Chief Engineer, deck crew, and external service providers. Required Skills: - Solid understanding of marine engineering principles and systems. - Strong problem‑solving, analytical, and troubleshooting abilities. - Effective communication and teamwork skills in a multinational crew setting. - Proficiency with shipboard monitoring systems, SCADA, and maintenance software. - Commitment to safety culture and environmental stewardship. Required Education & Certifications: - 2nd Engineer Unlimited CoC (Certificate of Competency). - Valid UK work permit. - Full STCW certification, including medical certificate. - Basic Marine Engineering or equivalent technical qualification.
