**Job title**
Head of Backend (H/F)
**Role Summary**
Lead the design, execution, and continuous improvement of the company’s backend engineering organization. Combine strategic architecture responsibilities with hands‑on leadership, ensuring scalable, high‑quality, and secure services that support product growth.
**Expectations**
* Provide vision and technical strategy in partnership with CTO, Product and other engineering leaders.
* Grow and mentor a team of backend developers (leads, seniors, intermediates) and oversee hiring.
* Own delivery metrics, quality, and operational performance.
* Foster an engineering culture of excellence, collaboration, and responsibility.
**Key Responsibilities**
* Architect, review, and approve critical backend infrastructure and technology choices.
* Conduct code reviews, prototypes, performance audits, and security assessments.
* Define and maintain coding standards, CI/CD pipelines, and observability practices.
* Align with Front‑End, QA, Data, Security, and SRE on cross‑functional deliverables.
* Drive engineering KPIs (velocity, defect rate, deployment frequency, uptime).
* Plan team capacity, career paths, and mentorship programs.
* Lead recruiting, onboarding, and talent development.
* Stay current on cloud, database, and open‑source trends that impact architecture.
**Required Skills**
* Strong leadership & coaching experience in backend engineering teams.
* Deep expertise in Go (Golang) and concurrent/cloud‑native programming.
* Proven architecture design for large‑scale, highly available systems.
* Experience with relational & analytical databases (TiDB, ClickHouse) and vector databases (Weaviate).
* Hands‑on knowledge of cloud storage (AWS S3, SCW S3) and container orchestration (Kubernetes/OKD).
* CI/CD proficiency with Bitbucket Pipelines, Argo CD, and Git workflows.
* Observability skillset (Prometheus, Grafana, VictoriaMetrics).
* Familiarity with workflow engines (Temporal) and event‑driven patterns.
* Solid understanding of security, compliance, and performance best practices.
* Excellent communication, cross‑functional collaboration, and strategic thinking.
**Required Education & Certifications**
* Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering or related field.
* Certification in distributed systems or cloud platforms (AWS Certified Solutions Architect, Kubernetes Administrator, etc.) is a plus.
