**Job Title**: Chief Technology Officer (CTO)
**Role Summary**:
Visionary founding leader responsible for designing, building, and scaling a sophisticated AI-driven medical equipment procurement platform. Drives technology strategy, establishes engineering best practices, and leads a high‑performance team to deliver secure, scalable, production‑grade solutions.
**Expectations**:
- Define and execute the technology roadmap for a B2B marketplace.
- Build architecture, apply AI/ML, ensure compliance with data‑security and regulatory standards.
- Scale engineering organization, establish processes, and maintain product quality.
- Make strategic build‑versus‑buy decisions for third‑party AI services.
- Deliver high‑quality, production‑ready features on aggressive timelines.
**Key Responsibilities**
1. Architect core platform, ensuring scalability, security, and reliability.
2. Lead technical strategy for AI‑enabled visual search, price optimisation, predictive procurement.
3. Design real‑time supplier matching, quote aggregation, procurement workflows.
4. Establish engineering best practices, development processes, and long‑term technical standards.
5. Evaluate and integrate third‑party AI services (OpenAI, Google Vision, etc.).
6. Oversee data security, GDPR compliance, ISO 27001, MHRA alignment.
7. Recruit, mentor, and grow a high‑performing engineering team.
8. Collaborate with Product, Operations, and Leadership to deliver solutions on schedule.
**Required Skills**
- 8+ years software engineering, 3+ years senior technical leadership.
- Proven experience building marketplace/e‑commerce/B2B platforms at scale.
- Expertise in API integration, microservices, third‑party orchestration.
- Hands‑on AI/ML and cloud‑based AI integrations.
- Deep knowledge of scalable architecture, distributed systems, modern database design.
- Strong understanding of security, GDPR, ISO 27001, regulatory compliance.
- Ability to deliver robust, production‑level technology on tight timelines.
**Preferred Skills**
- Background in healthcare, medical devices, or regulated industries.
- Prior CTO, Head of Engineering, or founding technical leader experience.
- Familiarity with WordPress, WooCommerce, or other e-commerce frameworks.
- Understanding of procurement workflows, supplier networks, B2B transactions.
- Knowledge of UK NHS procurement and MHRA guidelines.
**Required Education & Certifications**
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field.
- Certifications in cloud architecture, security, or AI (e.g., AWS Solutions Architect, Google Cloud Professional, etc.) are a plus.
