**Job title:** Associate Software Engineer
**Role summary:** Develop, maintain, and support laboratory information management and scientific data solutions for R&D, ensuring reliable, scalable software that integrates experimental data and promotes best practices among scientists.
**Expectations:** Deliver robust, well‑documented tools; collaborate cross‑functionally with scientists, developers, and IT; train users; champion data quality and standardization.
**Key responsibilities:**
1. Design, code, and maintain web applications (Python/Django, SQL) for R&D workflows.
2. Configure and manage LIMS/ELN suites (Dotmatics, Benchling).
3. Build custom informatics solutions for protein/oligonucleotide therapeutics, capturing molecular properties and experiment data.
4. Collaborate with laboratory scientists, software developers, IT, and external partners to define requirements and implement solutions.
5. Provide training, documentation, troubleshooting, and ongoing support for tools.
6. Monitor data quality, enforce standards, and drive continuous improvement and standardization initiatives.
**Required skills:**
- Python (Django) and SQL development.
- Version control (Git), code review, unit testing, CI/CD.
- Experience with web services, REST APIs, and cloud infrastructure (AWS EC2, ECS, S3).
- Proficiency with Docker and containerized deployments.
- Prior work on LIMS/ELN, laboratory informatics, or scientific data tools in pharma, biotech, or industrial chemistry environments.
- Ability to translate scientific workflow needs into software solutions.
- Strong problem‑solving, documentation, and communication skills.
**Required education & certifications:**
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Bioinformatics, or related field.
- Minimum 3+ years of relevant experience in scientific software development or laboratory informatics.
