Job Description
Job Title: Senior Software Engineer (C++) Role Summary: Senior C++ engineer on a long‑term contractor basis, responsible for building and maintaining high‑performance, low‑latency payment processing systems for a global FinTech platform. Utilizes modern C++ (C++14/17/20) and collaborates with cross‑functional teams in an Agile/Lean environment to drive architectural decisions and engineering best practices. Expectations: • Start in January, long‑term daily‑rate contract with extensions expected. • Fully remote, available to work within Ireland or Northern Ireland time zones. • Deliver robust, reliable code that meets stringent financial application requirements. Key Responsibilities: • Design, develop, and maintain complex payment processing components in C++. • Optimize performance and latency for real‑world financial workloads. • Participate in code reviews, architectural discussions, and design decisions. • Troubleshoot defects, identify root causes, and implement effective fixes. • Collaborate with product, QA, and ops teams using Agile/Lean practices. • Document design rationale, API contracts, and coding standards. Required Skills: • Proficient in modern C++ (C++14/17/20) with proven production experience. • Strong grasp of software engineering fundamentals, data structures, algorithms, and system architecture. • Experience leading or contributing to high‑performance, event‑driven systems. • Familiarity with Agile or Lean development methodologies. • Bonus: background in payments, financial services, or high‑availability system design. Required Education & Certifications: • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field (or equivalent professional experience). • Relevant industry certifications (e.g., C++ Institute, Certified Software Development Professional) are a plus but not mandatory.
