Job Description
Job title: Data Scientist Junior – Internship (6 months) Role Summary: Provide data‑driven solutions for freight forwarding operations, focusing on delivery forecasting, emissions monitoring, and operational gap analysis. Expectations: Deliver actionable insights, build and validate forecasting models, evaluate CO₂ emissions, collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, produce analytical reports in English, and present findings to stakeholders. Key Responsibilities: - Analyze and compare planned vs. actual operational plans to identify discrepancies. - Develop a delivery‑date forecasting model tailored to African routes and constraints. - Monitor and analyze CO₂ emissions across the African fleet, detect anomalies, and propose optimisation measures. - Transform raw operational data into actionable insights in collaboration with cross‑functional teams. - Write analytical reports in English and present results to internal and external stakeholders. Required Skills: - Strong mathematics and statistics foundation. - Proficiency with graph algorithms, time‑series analysis, and clustering techniques. - Python development for data science (pandas, scikit‑learn, etc.). - Experience with big‑data environments (Databricks, Azure). - Familiarity with Microsoft Azure services and Power BI. - Excellent written and oral communication in English. - Ability to work collaboratively and manage complex projects independently. Required Education & Certifications: - Master’s student or recent graduate in Computer Science, Data Science, Applied Mathematics, Statistics, or a related field from a recognized institution. - Relevant coursework in statistical modeling, machine learning, and databases. - (Optional) Entry‑level certifications in Microsoft Azure Data Science or Power BI preferred.
