Job Description

**Job Title** Java Developer – Desktop, Backend, Unit Testing **Role Summary** Develop and maintain Java‑based desktop and backend components for a global logistics platform. Focus on writing clean code, implementing unit tests, and contributing to green‑field initiatives while occasionally integrating solutions on client sites. **Expectations** - Demonstrated proficiency in Java (OO, SOLID principles). - Strong SQL skills (PL/SQL or T‑SQL) with Oracle 11g experience preferred. - Experience in unit testing frameworks and agile development practices. - Ability to deliver robust desktop and backend solutions and address production issues. - Eligible to work permanently in the UK and willing for occasional client‑site travel. **Key Responsibilities** - Design, code, and test Java components for desktop and backend services. - Write and maintain efficient SQL queries and database objects in Oracle. - Participate in code reviews, unit test development, and continuous integration pipelines. - Collaborate with engineering and QA teams to deliver high‑quality features. - Troubleshoot and resolve client‑site installations and performance problems. - Contribute to architecture decisions for new features and platform extensions. **Required Skills** - Java (JDK 8+), IntelliJ/Eclipse, Maven/Gradle. - Oracle 11g (SQL, PL/SQL) or T‑SQL (SQL Server). - Unit testing (JUnit, TestNG, or similar). - Desktop application development (Swing, JavaFX, or equivalent). - SOLID design principles, object‑oriented programming. - Agile methodologies (Scrum or Kanban). **Required Education & Certifications** - Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or equivalent technical experience. - Oracle Certified Professional (OCP) or similar database certification is a plus.
